Chart workCoastal Navigation for Small Boats is a two session - 1.75 hours each session, course where you will learn the basics of coastal navigation geared for sea kayakers, SUP users, and small motorboat users. Future Registered Maine Guides for Sea Kayaking and Tide-Water Fishing specialties should take this course.

Although this is a remote/distance learning two session course, this is the hands-on portion of the course where you will practice using the tools needed for coastal navigation, learn about charts and how to read them, and begin to see hazards associated with the waterways. You will be given access to an online course that will serve as your handbook in advance.

Trying to get into a sea kayak without a paddleFuture Registered Maine Guides for Sea Kayak and Tide-Water Fishing specialties need to know how to paddle a sea kayak and a SUP correctly. They also need to know how to teach those skills to clients and how to rescue an unexpected swimmer or a capsized sea kayak.

Join a workshop to learn and practice these skills. Participants must wear either a wetsuit or drysuit and a PFD at all times.  This is an outdoor workshop that is dependent on open calm water. Location will be decided the week prior to the event, but will be in the greater Brunswick, ME area. You will be cooking a hot lunch for yourself and providing personal snacks because of Covid-19.
