Registered Maine Guide Skills Workshop

Starting a fire with flintFollowing COVID-19 rules, each person will be providing their own food, beverages, snacks, sunscreen, bug repellent, hand sanitizer, packs, chairs, and gear. Face Masks will be worn during training and social distancing will be enforced. At any time a participant feels uncomfortable in performing a skills because of social distancing rules, adjustments will be made or the participant may watch. Safety is FIRST!

What is in your pack? Join future Registered Maine Guides in learning the outdoor skills that they need during spring, summer, and fall trips. This group workshop is hands on, all day. This fun event is good for future Registered Maine Guides and youth group leaders. It will be held outdoors all day.

Each  of the participants will be cooking their own lunch,  Each of us will keep ourselves warm by eating and moving. Learning new skills will be the key and how to be safe outdoors is beneficial for all. A full list of required and suggested gear, clothing, and workshop outline will be provided to participants after registering. 

Some of the skills to be presented include: using a compass outdoors to follow a bearing, searching for the separated client, following tracks and wildlife id., fire building, shelters, cooking outdoors, and staying warm and dry while being active.
