Winter Outdoor Skills Workshop. What is in your pack? Join future Registered Maine Guides and outdoor enthusiasts in learning the outdoor skills that they need during winter trips and during other seasons. This group workshop is hands on, all day. This fun event is good for future Registered Maine Guides, hunters, ice fishermen, cross-country skiers, snowshoers, winter campers and youth group leaders. It will be held outdoors all day.
Each participant will be cooking their own hot lunch and providing their snacks, dessert, and beverages. Each of us will keep ourselves warm by eating and moving. Learning new skills and upgrading rusty skills will be the key to the day. Students not only learn from Master Maine Guide Alice but from each other.
Some of the skills to be presented include: using a compass outdoors to follow a bearing, searching for the separated client, following tracks and wildlife id., fire building, shelters, cooking outdoors, and staying warm and dry while being active. Each participant will have a five minute teaching assignment.
