Malaga Island History and Virtual Tour. Not ready to sea kayak with Master Maine Guide Alice to Malaga Island for the interpretive tour? Make a hot beverage and settle down to learn about the history of 41 acre Malaga Island - before the interracial colony, during the interracial colony existance until eviction - and after the colony.
The 90 minute talk with videos and photographs will keep you interested. Jot down your questions and ask them at the end of the presentation. This is suitable for anyone aged 10 - 99.
Participants will receive a Zoom invitation to the talk after registration.
Registration is also through these adult education programs: Merrymeeting Adult Education, Five Town CSD Adult and Community Education, Maranacook Adult Education, Boothbay Region Adult Education, Gardiner Adult Education, and Winthrop Adult Education. You may register with the nearest adult education program to you or any other as this is a Zoom class!

Future Registered Maine Guides for Recreation, Hunting, and Fishing specialties need to know how to paddle a canoe and a SUP correctly. They also need to know how to teach those skills to clients and how to rescue an unexpected swimmer or a capsized canoe.
Join a live workshop to learn and practice these skills. Participants must wear either a wetsuit or drysuit and a PFD at all times. Limited rentals of wetsuits are available. This is an outdoor workshop that is dependent on open calm water. Location will be decided the week prior to the event, but will be in the greater Brunswick, ME area. Participants will be wearing a face covering as currently required..

Private Sea Kayak and Malaga Island History Tour. Paddle a sea kayak with Master Maine Guide Alice to Malaga Island for the interpretive tour. Learn about the history of 41 acre Malaga Island - before the interracial colony, during the interracial colony existance until eviction - and after the colony.
The five hour sea kayak and hike tour is appropriate for beginner paddling skills.
Participants will receive directions to the tiny public boat launch and may need to park remotely. Please bring water/snacks/lunch in a tiny backpack. Paddlers will use tandem kayaks. Please wear closed toed shoes that attach to your feet and can get wet, quick dry clothing, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and bring a fleece or windbreaker. Non-spray bug repellent suggested. Covid-19 protocols will be followed. No formal bathrooms are available during this trip.
