Registered Maine Guide Water Skills Workshop

changing paddleboardsFuture Registered Maine Guides for Recreation, Hunting, and Fishing specialties need to know how to paddle a canoe and a SUP correctly. They also need to know how to teach those skills to clients and how to rescue an unexpected swimmer or a capsized canoe. 

Join a workshop to learn and practice these skills. Participants must wear either a wetsuit or drysuit and a PFD at all times. Limited rentals of wetsuits are available. This is an outdoor workshop that is dependent on open calm water. Location will be decided the week prior to the event, but will be in the greater Brunswick, ME area. Face coverings will be required based on current guidelines, Skills to be covered include how to transport canoes and SUP's, launching and recovery, strokes, tandem canoeing, solo canoeing, rescue of a swimmer, canoe over canoe rescues and more. This is a participatory workshop. 

Practicing sweepsIf you own a canoe or SUP or just the paddles, you are encouraged to bring them so that you can learn to use them in these conditions. There will be a small rental fee if you do not have access to a canoe. SUP's will be provided for all participants.
