Registered Maine Guide Water Skills Workshop

changing paddleboardsDue to Covid-19, this event is limited to 5 people. Alice's Awesome Adventures is COVID-19 Phase 1 Certified and is taking the proper precautions to run all trips. Participants must bring and wear face masks as well as bringing their own sun screen, bug repellent, water, snacks, and lunch. All equipment will be disenfected before and after each use.

Future Registered Maine Guides for Recreation, Hunting, and Fishing specialties need to know how to paddle a canoe and a SUP correctly. They also need to know how to teach those skills to clients and how to rescue an unexpected swimmer or a capsized canoe.

Join a workshop to learn and practice these skills. Participants must wear either a wetsuit or drysuit and a PFD at all times. Limited rentals of wetsuits are available. This is an outdoor workshop that is dependent on open calm water. Location will be decided the week prior to the event, but will be in the greater Brunswick, ME area. Each participant will provide their own lunch and snacks.

Skills to be covered include how to transport canoes and SUP's, launching and recovery, strokes, tandem canoeing, solo canoeing, rescue of a swimmer, canoe over canoe rescues and more. This is a participatory workshop.

Practicing sweepsIf you own a canoe or SUP or just the paddles, you are encouraged to bring them so that you can learn to use them in these conditions. You will need to provide your own wetsuit which is required due to water immersion skill practice.
