Alice's Awesome Adventures has been COVID-19 Phase 1 CERTIFIED and may be open for business for boating trips (SUP, sea kayak, and canoe). That means that trips during Phase 1 (all of May 2020 and possibly beyond) must be for groups of 5! Any participants must live in Maine or have completed a 14 day quarantine.
All participants and Master Maine Guide Alice, must wear masks during any land portions of the trips (and possibly during other times) when social distancing is not easily maintained. When using a canoe or tandem sea kayak, both paddlers must be from the same family. Participants according to COVID-19 Phase 1 rules must provide their own water in water bottles, snacks, sunscreen, bug repellent, and masks. Sadly, Master Maine Guide Alice's famous hot muffins, brownies and tea will not be able to be offered during Phase 1.
All equipment (PFD's, paddles, boats, seats, bilge pumps and the like) will be sanitized according to the current Maine CDC and boating standards before and after use. Hand sanitizer will be available as needed. The rules for sanitization, distancing, wearing of face masks, size of groups, who can go on a trip, and snacks change rapidly, so always reconfirm your trip.
Alice's Awesome Adventures wants you to stay safe, healthy, and strong. We offer gift certificates by email for any trip in the future. Currently trips are on hold following Gov. Mills orders for anyone not living in Maine or has not completed a 14 day quarantine in Maine during Covid-19 Phase 1 business reopening.
Registered Maine Guide training and other training is happening through the use of video conferencing and online courses. You can train right now to become a Registered Maine Guide! Contact Alice by email. Merrymeeting Adult Education is offering a Registered Maine Guide course starting May 4th for 8 weeks that will meet twice a week by video conferencing. Cost? $500. To register go to www.merrymeeting.org
Covid-19 is on all of our minds at this time. Being outdoors allowing Mother Nature to give us fresh air, healing phytoncides from trees and plants, sunshine building our Vitamin D stores, and giving us space for relaxing are critical gifts for our wellness. On small group tours, it is easy to maintain social distances.
Following best practices for this industry, Alice's Awesome Adventures has always cleaned paddles, kayaks, canoes, pfd's, and all other common gear in the past, and continues to follow the current CDC guidelines. If you have booked a tour or instruction between March 1 and May 17th and wish to cancel or change that reservation, please email and it will be changed at no cost to you. If you wish a refund for an event during that time, that too will be granted with advance notice. Just being a "no-show" will not give you a refund.
Join Master Maine Guide and Mere Point native, Alice Bean Andrenyak on a personalized guided ecotour or take custom private instruction in sea kayaking, canoeing, hiking, snowshoeing, navigation, or nature observation in the greater Brunswick, Maine and mid-coast Maine region.
Do you want to visit a Maine island and have lunch? Would you like to go on a lighthouse tour by car, search for sea glass, walk a windswept beach, build a cairn or a fairy house? Bring your camera to record a great time or your binoculars hoping to see a bald eagle, osprey, merganser, belted kingfisher, eider and mallard ducks or a great blue heron during the warmer months?
Paddle with Alice along the coast of Maine in beautiful Casco Bay, the rivers nearby or explore the region by foot. Winter, summer, fall or spring there is much to do, discover, and see. Private instruction and tours are a specialty. These are customized trips not generalized group tours. Based on our discussions, your trip or instruction program will be planned to help you get in touch with your inner awesome self. Environmental conditions such as weather, temperature and wind chill, tides, snowfall, time of year, actual daylight hours or moonrise will frame your trip. We plan ahead with alternatives for changes.
Would you like personalized local region trip planning? If you're not a local, you'll want to know where the special spots are or where to rent equipment from a reliable outfitter, so ask. If you have the skills and equipment to explore on your own, asking for help understanding our tides and currents, finding quiet landing or lunch spots, and following best practices will make your trip safe and more fun. If you don't have the skills or equipment let me help.
Do you need help in selecting your next boat, pair of snowshoes, or camping gear? Schedule a shopping trip when Alice will advise you on your options and best choices for that equipment.
A comment on Alice's guided photography trip from a renown Maine wildlife photographer, Lori Davis. "I'd like to share a bit of my experience with you. One of my Maine Guide friends got me in contact with his Master Maine Guide friend Alice, who impressed me immensely with her knowledge of wildlife & birding locations in her area & beyond. Her enthusiasm was contagious!"
"Dear Alice, Do you remember us? Three years ago, we made a wonderful trip with you on a flat water river (I forgot the name, sorry, but we saw quite a lot of white eagles). We would like to do this again with you and we would be a party of 4. Is there a chance to do this in August 2015?" Gudrun A. Germany. Requests like this one are because Alice's Awesome Adventures clients have fun and on a customized trip, your wishes are the basis of planning the trip. I can't promise bald eagles or seals or walkable sea ice, but I can plan your trip to maximize the chances.
A comment from a family trip. "Thank you, Thank you so much for helping facilitate our wonderful family experience on beautiful Merrymeeting Bay. No one could have handled all our different levels of competance (or in-competence) and yet instill a wonderful sense of mastery and joy to all the group. Bravo. Well done" Susan H.
From a different family trip, "This is our second year of going out with Alice. She catered to our availability and knew the history of the area. She planned our trip to see bald eagles, osprey, and seals! We're coming back next year." Sue T.
